Vegetarian Means Vegan, Right?

Actually vegetarians tend to differ from what Vegans consider themselves to be. The exact reasons for why, evade me at the moment.

I eat plenty of vegetables but also enjoy eggs so I think this means I may be a vegetarian but I am not a vegan because eggs are not on their menu. I need to watch my calories and weight.

Veganism, if I may, seems to be more like a religion than just a healthy eating regime. I think the term is applied to not only eggs but even to wearing things that may have once been alive, like leather.

I have no feelings on this one way or another and think our life choices are just that, our life choices.

Why Beef Tenderloin Steaks Seem to be Rising in Popularity

By Jeff West

Beef Tenderloin steaks, also known as filet mignon steaks, used to be something most people had on special occasions. It seems the popularity of beef tenderloin steaks is rising as more beef eaters prefer the better cuts of beef, since beef prices have become more stable. In fact, even premium beef is popular, such as Black Angus and Sterling Silver cuts and Kobe beef is expensive but quite popular.

If you are seeking a tender steak, then tenderloin steaks are the way to go. Why are they so tender? Well it's because they actually come straight from the cow's tenderloin. There are many different sauces out there and you can feel free to use any of them because these have done a great job in boosting the popularity of the tenderloin steaks. Did you know that you may have a different experience everytime you eat the steak just by changing the sauce that you use?

The filet mignon is probably the most popular of the beef tenderloin steaks. Filets are cut from the tenderloin and they can be two to three inches thick, typically wrapped in bacon before being cooked or grilled to medium rare doneness for the best flavor and texture.

Some like beef tenderloin steaks with nothing more than a pat of garlic or herb butter. Others like them with exotic ingredients, such as topped with gorgonzola cheese sauce, crab meat, asparagus, peppercorn cream sauce, hollandaise, barnaise sauce, red wine and tarragon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers or mustard-cognac sauce. The possibilities are endless.

When it comes to marinades, it is not unusual to see marinades with wine, Worcestershire, liquid smoke, lemon, garlic, herbs, olive oil, Dijon mustard, teriyaki, or Cajun hot sauces. Rubs and seasonings can include ground peppercorns, chili powder, garlic and onion powders, steak seasonings, rosemary, Greek seasoning, Five-spice powder and more.

The greatest thing regarding beef tenderloin steaks is that you don't actually need to season them. They're going to taste good regardless of what you do, and people love it for this reason.

For the most part, steak enthusiasts will say that you should not cook beef tenderloin steaks beyond anything but medium, or you might as well be eating roast beef. This is true because the beef tenderloin steaks don't have a high amount of fat, and that's why they're normally paired with strips of bacon. If you want to go for a well done steak anyway, make sure you add some sort of oil, or you won't be having a steak at all.

People that love red meat will love beef tenderloin steaks, and to make it even better they have drastically dropped in price, becoming accessible to just about anyone that wants to experience it. High quality steaks will still be pricey, but what else could you expect?

Since these wonderful beef tenderloin steaks are so low in fat and carbs, it doesn't matter whether or not you are on a diet because it won't hurt you at all. They're very high in popularity now, simply because it's the best steak that you can get these days.

Simple Treatments With Home Remedy For Acid Reflux

By Richal Peyton

Acid reflux is generally a common gastro-intestinal condition suffered by many today. The first step to curing acid reflux effectively is to detect its signs and symptoms for early treatment. Since this condition has a lot to do with the acid and enzymes in your stomach, people often look into a home remedy for acid reflux, which can be a special diet or activity. Let's take a look at the three most popular options for natural acid reflux treatments.

Diet For Acid Reflux

One quick home remedy is drinking milk. This is especially good for those who are experiencing acid reflux for the first time. However, this is not a permanent solution, as milk can cause a rebound effect after some time.

To get rid of acid reflux for good, practice eating smaller and more frequent meals. For instance, you can have 3 medium-sized meals throughout the day plus 2 snacks in between. When eating 3 large meals in one day, your stomach tends to build up excess acid during the long hours before those meals.

It's not enough to simply schedule small frequent meals. You need to avoid high-fat foods and instead eat more complex carbohydrates like breads, rice, and pasta. These kinds of foods are able to tie up extra acid and are much gentler on your stomach. On the other hand, high-fat foods tend to stay much longer in the stomach, therefore forcing the stomach to secrete more acid. Finally, limit your alcohol intake, as alcohol like beer can double acid production in your stomach in just 1 hour!

Herbs For Acid Reflux

Some herbs such as chamomile, gentian and ginger are good acid reflux treatments. You can couple these herbs with your acid reflux diet to sooth stomach muscles and other unwanted symptoms. The benefit of using herbs is that they tend to have no harsh side effects and can be used for the long term.

Activities For Acid Reflux

Not only will you need to ease symptoms and help the stomach regain its health, but you'll also need to maintain overall health. There's no point in treating acid reflux once and then going back to your old habits. If you'd like to get rid of acid reflux for good, exercise regularly and try some de-stressing techniques.

You'd want to lower down your daily stress as much as possible since it has been found as one of the major factor of the condition. The best thing about physical activity is that it doesn't cause adverse side effects and nor does it cost a thing. When you exercise your body naturally releases endorphins, which aid in digestion and also help you feel mentally and physically better. You may do mild exercises (avoid strenuous exercises) like walking and relaxation techniques such as stretching and yoga.

A natural home remedy for acid reflux should be your primary option in treating the condition. This is because it often has no side effects, is safer for long-term use, and benefits the whole body as a preventive treatment. Before trying out any of the treatments mentioned, consult your doctor first.
